Roberta Averna Valente (name used in publications since 2014) has been a professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), Sorocaba campus, since 2009. She is a forestry engineer who graduated from ESALQ/USP (1998), where she completed her master's degree (2001), doctorate (2005 Forest Resources), and post-doctorate (2010 Department of Biosystems Engineering). In 2024, she was on sabbatical at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, developing a project related to Ecosystem Services. Vice-coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Planning and Use of Renewable Resources (PPGPur, UFSCar/Sorocaba), she develops projects applying geoprocessing to environmental planning, especially with Multicriteria Assessment, landscape ecology and Ecosystem Services. He is the leader of the Geotechnologies and Forest Planning Research Group (GEOPLAN, UFSCar), with the main project (FAPESP 2018/21612-8; 2023/08929-0) being the prioritization of areas aimed at maintaining Ecosystem Services.
