Architect and Urban Planner (2005), Master (2008) and PhD (2013) from Politecnico di Torino (Italy) via the Technological Innovation Program with a double doctorate degree as PhD in Design at the University of Sao Paulo. She is an Associate Professor at the Center for Engineering, Modelling and Applied Social Sciences at the Federal University of ABC. She was an active military officer of the Brazilian Navy as part of the Corp of Naval Engineers. She was a researcher at the Computational Mechanics Laboratory of the USP Polytechnic School. She taught courses on Bio-Inspired Design and Prototyping at UNESP (Bauru), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Università di Bologna (Italy), Silesian University of Technology (Poland), Riga Technical University (Latvia) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWM in Freiburg (Germany). She is the principal investigator/leader of the 4D Printing and Biomimetics (4DB) research group in the CNPq directory and collaborates with interdisciplinary research groups abroad. She is fluent in Portuguese / English / Italian and communicates in French / Spanish / German. Since 2001, she has exhibited interactive art, kinetic installations and prototypes in Brazil and the European Union, with institutional support and industry sponsorships. Since 2002, she has researched the interdisciplinary field of Bioinspired Engineering, seeking technological innovations inspired by solutions and strategies presented by biological structures and their functions. She is interested in the following subjects: biomimetics, bioinspired engineering, prototyping, 4D printing, active origami, dynamic behaviour, lightweight structures, structural design, nuclear facilities, soft robotics and programmable materials.
