I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from the University of São Paulo (1983), a master's degree in Musicology from the University of São Paulo (2000) and a doctorate in Communication and Semiotics from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (2003). In 2011 I undertook a two-month study internship on the relationship between improvisation and technology at UCSD under the supervision of professors David Borgo and Miller Puckette with whom I have regular academic contacts. The two teachers have already visited USP on different occasions. Professor Borgo taught a course in USP's Graduate Program in Music in 2012. Professor Puckette attended a conference on PD (Pd convention 2012). On this occasion, we present a saxophone and guitar duo with live electronics that resulted from the work developed in San Diego. From August 2013 to July 2014 I conducted a postdoctoral research project (entitled Free improvisation, new technologies and the aesthetics of sonority) in Paris, France, at the Université Paris 8, under the supervision of professor and musicologist Makis We meet with whom, since then I have regular academic contacts (an existing academic agreement between ECA and Paris University 8 is one of the results of this exchange). I also have regular academic contacts with Professor Marcel Cobussen of the University of Leiden / Netherlands. We have an article written in partnership published in the Revista Música of PPGMUS-USP (Music Journal - https://www.revistas.usp.br/revistamusica). I am currently a free professor and researcher linked to the Graduate Program in Music of the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo. I have experience in the arts, with emphasis on composition, theory and music analysis. My main research topic is improvisation. I develop research project about musical improvisation and its connections, particularly about the environment of free improvisation with real-time electroacoustic interaction, creative processes and collective creation. I am part of the research team of NuSom (Research Center in Sonology) coordinated by Professor Fernando Iazzetta and based in the Department of Music of ECA / USP. I have compositions for various formations including octets, quartets, trios, duos, solo saxophone pieces and piano studies. I also work as a saxophonist and flutist in groups dedicated to experimental music and free improvisation. I am founder and coordinator of the experimental group Orquestra Errante. The Orquestra Errante is an experimental group linked to the Department of Music of ECA-USP and NuSom (USP Sonology Research Center - http://www2.eca.usp.br/nusom/) and is dedicated to research and to the practice of improvisation. The group is made up of performers from the most diverse backgrounds and with the most varied musical backgrounds. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
