Graduated as Electronical Engineeer, at the University of São Paulo (1972) and Ph.D in History, University of São Paulo (1994). He received a scholarship of the Krupp and Humboldt Foundations (Germany), was Resident Scholar at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, D.C.) and Fellow of the Chemical Heritage Foundation (Philadelphia, USA). He is currently Full Professor, Department of History at the University of São Paulo, and a collaborating professor at ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and at the Universty of Lisbon (Center for the Philosophy of Science). An expert in History of Science and Technology, he works mainly on the following subjects: history of science and technology ,history of electricity in Brazil, epistemology, scientific public communication, history of science & technology policies.
