Professor of Brazilian History and of the Postgraduate Program in History of the Department of History of the School of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of the Federal University of São Paulo. Doctor (2000) and Master (1994) in Social History from the State University of Campinas. Postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Public Health at the University of São Paulo (2005-2006) and at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto (2015). Graduated (1987) and licensed (1988) in History from the University of São Paulo (1987). He has experience in the areas of History (with emphasis on the History of Brazil) and Archives, working mainly on the following topics: slavery, slave trade, maritime history, food history, historical heritage, organization of collections and public health. He has published, among others, No mar e em terra (2016), Alimentação, vida material e privacidade (2011), De costa a costa (2005) and O infame comércio (2000), as well as textbooks aimed at elementary school.
