Prof. Sofia has a degree in Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (1996), a PhD in Chemistry (Inorganic Chemistry) from the University of São Paulo (2002) and a post-doctorate in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of São Paulo (2002). In 2003 and 2004, she took part in CAPES' ProDoc programme. She has worked at two USP units, teaching at FCFRP between 2005 and 2014 and, since 2014, she has been teaching at FFCLRP - Ribeirão Preto School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters - USP. She is currently Associate Professor 2 and coordinates the research group LABiQSC2 - Laboratory of Biological Activity and Supramolecular Chemistry of Coordination Compounds (@labiqsc2; https://sites.usp.br/labiqsc2/). She has been a CNPq productivity grant holder since 2007; since 2005 she has coordinated two CNPQ Universal projects and eight FAPESP Regular Grants, and has also contributed as a participant in other collaborative projects. She has ongoing partnerships with Ohio State University (USA); University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Freiburg, Germany and Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Canada. She has supervised 18 master's and doctoral students, and more than 50 undergraduate students with grants and internships without grants. She is currently working on two projects in the area of Chemistry Teaching. Her advisees have been awarded 17 prizes and honourable mentions and she has been Patron and Paranymph of graduates on the Bachelor of Chemistry course at FFCLRP - USP. She works in the field of science communication through the Instagran profile @labiqsc2. She is currently coordinating a pre-initiation project for high school students and teachers. She has experience in Inorganic Chemistry, with an emphasis on Coordination Chemistry, structural characterisation (NMR and mass spectrometry) and spectroscopy, working mainly on the following subjects: development of metallo-drugs, supramolecular chemistry and polymetallic systems.
