Graduated in Medicine from the Paulista School of Medicine of the Federal University of São Paulo (1976), master's degree (1985) and doctorate (1990) in Operative Technique and Experimental Surgery from the Paulista School of Medicine of the Federal University of São Paulo. Post-Doctorate at the University of Toronto (1991 - 1993). Full Member of the Brazilian College of Surgeons (1986); Full Member of the Brazilian Society of Laser in Medicine and Surgery (1999) and President of SBLMC (2006-2008); Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (2007). Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery of the Paulista School of Medicine of the Federal University of São Paulo (2013) and Full Professor of the Department of Surgery (2015), retired in 2018. Member of GENAM - Group of Research and Studies in Literature, Narrative and Medicine of the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo (2014). Surgeon at the National Institute of Medical Assistance and Social Security (1982). He has experience in the area of Surgery with emphasis on Experimental Surgery and Proctologic Surgery, working mainly on the following topics: laser surgery, general surgery, proctologic surgery and bowel transplantation.
