Martha S. Ribeiro holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the State University of Campinas (1987). She received her Masters and Doctoral degrees from the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN) at São Paulo University. She is currently a director of research at IPEN, vice-coordinator of the Graduate Commission, member of the PIBIC Commission, member of the Center for Health Technology Assessment, and advisory board member of the Foundation for Support and Promotion of Technological Innovation, Research, and Education. Her teaching activities include the Postgraduate Program in Nuclear Technology at USP and the Professional Master Program in Radiation Technology in Health Sciences at IPEN. She was a visiting researcher at the Università Tor Vergata (Rome, Italy), Universiteit van Amsterdam (Netherlands) and at the Université Catolique Du Louvain (Louvain-la-neuve, Belgium). She is on the board of the Brazilian Academy of Biophotonics and Laser and is a full member of the Brazilian Society of Physics, Brazilian Society of Biophysics, International Photodynamic Association, and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). She has already supervised more than 50 master and doctoral students. She actively collaborates with national and international researchers and has published more than 170 papers in scientific journals, with more than 5000 citations. She has published 4 books in partnership to disseminate the use of light-based technologies in the dental and veterinary clinic. She is an ad hoc reviewer for Brazilian and international journals, and for funding agencies in Brazil and abroad. She has projects in collaboration with companies and hospitals aimed at transferring light-based technologies for the benefit of the population. She is invited to give lectures and talks in scientific congresses and courses for researchers and healthcare professionals. She works in the development of non-thermal light-based and/or assisted processes for therapy and diagnosis.
