He holds a degree in Physics from the Federal University of São Carlos (1985), a master's degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1988), a PhD in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1993), a Post-Doctorate in Physics from the Università Degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza" (1996-1997) and an Associate Professor from the São Paulo State University (2002). He is a Full Professor and the Materials Science and Technology Graduate Program coordinator. He is a Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE). He is an ad-hoc consultant for the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), the Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP), and the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes). He is a Research Productivity Fellow (proc. 308204/2017-4) from CNPq. He is a member of the Latin American Society of Biomaterials and Artificial Organs (SLABO), the Brazilian Society of Physics (SBF), the Brazilian Vacuum Society (SBV), the Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS), the Brazilian Society of Microscopy and Microanalysis (SBMM), and The Minerals, Metals Materials Society (TMS). He is an institutional evaluator at the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (INEP) and the State Council of Education of the State of São Paulo (CEE-SP). He has experience in Physics and Metallurgy, emphasizing Metallic Biomaterials (especially titanium-based alloys) and Mechanical and Acoustic Properties of Condensed Matter.
