Professor of Parasitology at Adolfo Lutz Institute since 2004, coordinator of the the central public health institute of the Secretary of Health of São Paulo State. He has >20 years? experience working with trypanosomatids and an excellent international collaboration track record with UK and USA universities. He has published 86 peer-reviewed primary research articles, 4 reviews and 3 book chapters. Degree in Pharmacy (1997), Master IPEN-University of Sao Paulo (1999) and PhD in Biology of Host-Pathogen Interactions - ICB-University of Sao Paulo (2003), with part of PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2001-2001, - Prof. Simon L. Croft). Post-doctorate in Toxinology at Federal University of Sao Paulo (UNIFESP). Coordinator of the Laboratory Novel Drugs -Neglected Diseases (since 2004) and vice-director of the Centre for Parasitology and Mycology (since 2009). Vice coordinator of the Post-Graduation Program of the Secretary of Health of São Paulo State and coordinator of the Program Laboratory Research in Public Health. Professor at the Post-graduation Program of University of São Paulo-Institute of Tropical Medicine. Current projects with international partners including University of Oxford (UK), University of Dundee (UK), University of Bangor (UK), Ohio State University (EUA), Universität Munster (Alemanha), Universidad San Pablo (Espanha), University of Auckland (NZ). From 2011-2014 coordinated a Drug Discovery project with GlaxoSmithKline (UK). Field of interest- Drug Discovery (natural products and synthetic compounds) for Leishmaniasis and Chagas disease, with emphasis on pre-clinical studies of drugs, mechanism of action, drug repositioning, combination therapy. Integrates the research network ResNet NPND (Brazil-Germany-Universität Münster) for new drugs against neglected diseases. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
