Alexandre Souto Martinez holds a bachelor's degree (86) and a Master's degree (88) in Physics from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos (IFSC) at the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. He obtained the `Diplôme des Etudes Approfondies' (DEA) (90) and the Doctorate (93) by the University Joseph Fourier (Grenoble I), France. He has done Post-Doctorate (94-96) at the University of Geneva, Switzerland and (96-98) at the National Institute of Space Research (INPE) in São José dos Campos, Brazil. Since 1998, he is a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto (FFCLRP) of the University of São Paulo (USP). In 2005, he became Associate Professor. He supervised 5 postdoctoral researchers, guided 11 doctoral students and 9 master's degree students. He currently oversees 1 postdoctoral researchers, directs 3 doctoral students, 4 Master's degrees and 0 Scientific Initiation students. He was the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology (FAMB) (06-08), Head of the Department of Physics and Mathematics (08-10) and Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the FFCLRP (12-13). Since 2013, he is the Director of the Information Technology Center at USP's campus in Ribeirão Preto. It has more than 85 published articles, more 1400 citation and h = 17.
