Dr. Paulino R. Villas-Boas holds degrees in Physics (2001) and Statistics and Data Science (2021) from the University of São Paulo, as well as a Master's (2004) and Ph.D. (2008) in Computational Physics from the same institution. Currently, he is a researcher at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), specializing in computational physics, statistics, and data science. Dr. Villas-Boas's work focuses on modeling and simulation of agricultural and environmental systems, complex networks, pattern recognition, and atomic and molecular spectroscopy. He develops calibration models for quantifying soil nutrients, carbon, and contaminants, characterizes soil organic matter structure, and creates classification models for diagnosing biotic and abiotic plant stresses, all utilizing advanced photonic techniques such as spectroscopy and imaging.
