Mechanical Engineer (1987) and Master in Mechanical Engineering (1990) from the Federal University of Itajubá, Occupational Safety Engineer from the São Paulo State University, UNESP (1990), PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1994) and Associate Professor in Thermal Machines from UNESP (1997). He completed a postdoctoral degree in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2001), an internship at the Center of Applied Research, Sustainable Energy Technology (zafh.net), in Stuttgart (2011) and at the Group of Machines and Thermal Motors, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Zaragoza (2012). He is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry and Energy of UNESP, Guaratinguetá Campus, continuing the international collaboration initiated in 2014 between UNESP and the Universities of Birmingham, Northampton and Leicester on the theme "food/energy/water nexus" (ESRC/FAPESP/Newton joint funding scheme, FAPESP thematic project 15/50226-0, ESRC grant reference ES/K00932X/1) and between UNESP and CNAM/Paris initiated in 2016 in the context of the Programme des Chaires Franco-Brésiliennes dans l_Etat de São Paulo. Member of the ABCM (Brazilian Association of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences) since 1986, serving on the Energy and Thermal Systems and Fluid Mechanics committees. Member of the Advisory Committee on Nuclear Engineering, Renewable Energy and Energy Planning (CA-EN) of CNPq (07/2022-06/2025). Leader of the research group Modeling of Thermal and Hydraulic Systems and Processes (http://dgp.cnpq.br/dgp/espelhogrupo/39789). Coordinator of the Laboratory of New Technologies in Energy and Sustainability (LANTES) and Vice-Coordinator of the Center for Scientific Laboratories of Excellence (CLaCE) - 2023-2025. He works in the Postgraduate Program in Engineering at UNESP/Guaratinguetá, in the area of #8203;#8203;Energy Engineering, with a focus on Energy Planning, with an interest in modeling systems and processes and in synergistic and innovative technologies that favor polygeneration and the rational use of energy, water, food and other elements related to its nexus (contact: jose.perrella at unesp.br).
