Molecular and Cellular Biologist - investigate mechanisms involved in muscle wasting diseases. Our research group is using cellular, molecular, and bioinformatics approaches to better understand the pathways that mediate protein loss associated with muscle wasting diseases including cancer and heart failure. We are particularly interested in how noncoding regulatory RNAs, such microRNAs, regulate muscle atrophy. The long-term goal is to not only to better dissect the function and mechanisms by which genes regulates muscle wasting, but also translate this information to identify new drug targets to support the development of new therapeutic strategies.
