Lucia Zanin Shimbo

Lucia Shimbo is Associate Professor at the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (IAU-USP, São Carlos, Brazil), working in two research areas Architecture, Urbanism and Technology and Theory and History of Architecture and Urbanism. She is a member of the Yby Research Grouo (Land, public policies and production of space and landscape studies,IAU-USP) and of the Research Group Economy, territory and urbanization (UFF). She was Chair on Graduation Committee of the IAU-USP and member of the Graduation Council of USP between 2016 and 2018. Ad hoc consultant of Fapesp and CNPq and member of the Editorial Board of Risco journal. She is a graduate, master and Ph.D. in architecture and urbanism from the University of São Paulo (USP). as a graduate degree, Master and PhD in architecture and urbanism from the University of São Paulo (USP Brazil). She held a doctoral internship at the University of Paris 8 - Saint Denis (France) and postdoctoral studies about real estate and housing policy at the Laboratory for Housing and Human Settlements (LabHab, Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, FAU/USP - Brazil) and about financialisation and production of housing at the Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Research City, Space, Society (RIVES, École Nationale de Travaux Publics de l'État, ENTPE - France). She was fellow at the Collegium de Lyon 2018-2019 (Université de Lyon - France). She received the Excellence award for new leaders in research at USP and her PhD thesis received honourable mention at the VII Brazilian Award in Politics, Urban and Regional Planning and was at the third place in the Iberoamerican Award in PhD on sustainable housing promoted by Infonavit-Redalyc (Mexico). She has coordinated research projects on housing policies, real estate market and financialisation of urban production, with financial support from Fapesp, CNPq, USP and Université de Lyon. Her professional experience includes consulting for Brazilian municipalities in local social housing plans and for Latin American housing programs.
