Postdoctoral positions at Caltech (2003-2005), Australian National University (2005-2008) and Univ. Porto (2008-2010). Since 2010, Permanent Professor at the Univ. Sao Paulo. Has experience in Astronomy, focusing on Stellar Astrophysics, Exoplanets and Galactic Astronomy. 145 refereed papers and about 9000 citations (62 citations per refereed paper). This postdoctoral project aims to explore the differential analysis technique in order to determine stellar parameters and chemical abundances in solar-type stars. Using precise abundances (0.01 dex) we will investigate the connection between chemical anomalies and planet formation and we will study various stellar nucleosynthesis processes at unprecedented detail.

This project aims to better understand stellar activity through characterization of lines with chromospheric contribution, such as the Ca II H and K lines. We also intend to model the effect of stellar activity on radial velocities, which is key in our quest to characterize exoplanets, especially small planets such as super-Earths and in the future Earth analogs. The aim of the project is to study the presence of lithium in low-mass stars (less massive than the Sun), determining a possible way to predict the destruction of this element inside cool stars, due to the deepening of the convective zone in low-mass stars.
