Professor José Bento Sterman Ferraz, graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University de São Paulo (USP), in 1977, MSc in Genetics (USP, 1980), PhD in Genetics (USP, 1981) and Full Professor at the College of Animal Science and Food Engineering of the University of Sao Paulo (since 1997) is a CNPq Researcher since 1989, being at the top of that carrier (1-A) in 2015. He has experience in Genetics, Quantitative Genetics, focusing in sire evaluation of purebred and crossbred beef cattle and sheep and genetic parameters. Nowadays, leads the Group of Animal Breedind and Biotechnology at FZEA/USP where conduct studies on validation of genetic (molecular) markers in beef cattle, GWAS and GS. Since 04/2010 he is one of the Genetics, Animal Genetic Resources and Breeding Section Editor of the Scientific Journal Livestock Science, published by Elsevier. I was, also, the Coordinator of Faculty Evaluation of Animal and Food Sciences of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, from 2010 to 2013. In May, 2023, ISI Web of Science and Scopus pointed and h Index of 31, Scholar Google presented a H index of 44 and a i10 index of 172, showing the impact of his carrier as a scientist. He was the Editor of the Special Issue "Genomics Applied to Livestock Production", of the Livestock Science, available at the 10th World Congress on Genetics Applied to Livestock Production, Vancouver, August, 2014 and he is the Adjunct Scientific Coordinator of the Reaserch Nucleus on Animal Breeding, Biotecnology and Transgenesis of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
