Posee graduación en Agronomía por la ?Universidade de São Paulo? (ESALQ, 1969), maestría en Extensión Rural por la ?Universidade Federal de Viçosa? (1976) y doctorado en Agronomía (Agricultura) por la ?Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho? (1974). Posdoctorado por la ?Universidade Estadual de Campinas UNICAMP? (1980), especialización en Extensión Rural para el Desarrollo Socioeconómico por la ?Agricultural University Wageningen? (1985); posdoctorado por la ?École des Hautés Études em Sciences Sociales? 1990/91 e 2000/01 y también por la ?Université Paris Ouest-Nanterre?,2012/13. Es profesora titular de la ?Universidade Estadual de Campinas?, en la Facultad de Ingeniería Agrícola en el área de Planificación y Desarrollo Rural. Tiene experiencia en el área de Extensión Rural con énfasis en los siguientes temas: Desarrollo Rural Sustentable, Agricultura Familiar, Políticas Públicas para el medio Rural, Reforma Agraria y Asentamientos Rurales. Actúa en los programas de Pos graduación en Ingeniería Agrícola (Maestría y Doctorado), en ciencias Sociales (Doctorado), en Ambiente y Sociedad (Doctorado) y en Desarrollo Rural y Agroecología (Maestría), este último junto a la ?Universidade Federal de São Carlos?. Es autora/organizadora de 16 libros, dentro de ellos el libro ?O que são Assentamentos Rurais? de la ?Coleção Primeiros Passos da Editora Brasiliense?. Tiene 91 artículos publicados en periódicos de selecta política editorial y 34 capítulos de libros. Es becaria de Productividad en Investigación del ?Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnológico CNPq? e becária del Programa Nacional de Professor Visitante Sênior (PNPVS) de la CAPES. Fue presidente de la SOBER (?Sociedade Brasileira de Economia e Sociologia Rural?), bienio 1995/97 y Presidente de la ALASRU (?Associação Latinoamericana de Sociologia Rural?), cuadrienio 2006/10. Participó como asesora del Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario (MDA-Brasil), del IICA y de la FAO en trabajos de formación de extensionistas y de evaluación de la Política de Asistencia Técnica y extensión Rural Brasileira.
