Medical degree from the University of Taubaté São Paulo, Brasil (1973) and PhD in Sciences (Human Physiology) from the University of São Paulo (1978). Currently is a full professor at the University of São Paulo, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Physiology and Biophysics with experience in the field of Physiology, with emphasis on Insulin secretion, acting mainly on the following topics: mechanisms of insulin secretion, isolated islets, NADPH oxidase and redox state of insulin secreting cells.
