Dentist graduated from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), Araraquara campus, in 2002, with a Master's degree (2005) and a PhD (2009) in Pharmacology from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). During her PhD, she completed a sandwich internship at the University of Virginia (2007) and, more recently, a sabbatical at the Seattle Children's Research Institute (2024).She served as treasurer of the Brazilian Society of Physiology (2015-2016) and the Federation of Experimental Biology Societies (FeSBE) (2017-2021), and as the first secretary of the same Federation (2021-2023). Currently, she is an Associate Professor 3 in the Department of Pharmacology at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (USP).Her research focuses on how the central nervous system regulates respiration in mammals, with an emphasis on identifying neuronal networks in rodents through electrophysiological and neuroanatomical methods. Her work also investigates alterations in these networks in experimental models of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's Disease.In addition to her academic career, she is the mother of Luísa (17 years old) and Laura (13 years old).
