Bachelor's In Electrical Engineering from Federal University of Uberlândia, Brazil (1983), M.Sc. in Electric Engineering from University of São Paulo, Brazil (1987) and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Bath University, U.K. (1992). He had his sabatical at Cornell University USA in 1999/2000. He has experience in Electric Engineering, focusing on Measurement, Simulation and Protection of Electrical Power Systems, acting on the following subjects: neural networks, AC transmission lines and distance protection.
