Medical Degree from Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Brasília (1978), Master and PhD in experimental surgery at Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1987 and 1989) and Post-Doctoral degree in Small Bowel Transplant at thr University of Toronto from 1989 to 1992. Full Professor Degree from Surgical Department of Universidade Federal de São Paulo (2000). Currently is acting as Professor of Surgery and the line of research is focused on bacterial translocation, sepsis, gut associated immunology, macrocirculation and microcirculation related to systemic infection and shock.
