Graduated in Nephrology at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo receiving the PhD degree in 1988. Fellowship training in the field of Countermeasures Against Renal Failure organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) from August to October of 1987 in Tokyo, Japan. Post-doctoral fellowship in Laboratoire de Physiologie Cellulaire, Collège de France at Paris from 1992 to 1994 and in Laboratoire de Biologie Integrée des Cellules Rénales U 1859 em CEA-Saclay and Laboratoire de Physiopathologie Vasculaire, U367INSERM at Paris from 1999 to 2001 in France. Livre-Docente (Associate Professor) in Nephrology at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo in 2003. Researcher at Laboratório de Pesquisa Básica (LIM-12), Nefrologia, Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Univesridade de São Paulo since 1984 and Assistant Professor in Nephrology at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo since 2005.
