In 2000 was awarded Bachelor's of Biology from University of São Paulo and in 2006 she was awarded her PhD in Genetics at the Institute of Biosciences, University of São Paulo. In her last year as a PhD student, spent six months in the laboratory of Professor Chris Shaw in London to learn to work with embryonic stem cells. After finishing her studies in Brazil, she accepted an offer to coordinate the laboratory of induced pluripotent stem cells at the Clinical Neuroscience department, at Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London (IOP-KCL). Her main aim is to model Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) using these cells and identifying forms of therapy for this disease. She is involved in lecturing students in the Neuroscience Master´s Course at the IOP-KCL and is a member of the Biological Risk Assessment Commitee in the same institution. Has large experience in Genetics, focusing on human genetics, cell biology, proteomics with emphasis on the following subjects: Motor neuron disease (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and human embryonic stem cells. Until July 2013 she published 26 peer reviewed articles, which has been cited more than 1400 times. Her H index is 15. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
