Valeria Mendonça de Macedo

Anthropologist and associate professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) since 2011. Associate researcher at the Center for Amerindian Studies at University of São Paulo (CEstA-USP). With ethnographic experience among Guarani communities in the state of São Paulo and in Indigenous Health Care institutions, her researches approach and Indigenous cosmopolitics and knowledge practices in contemporary contexts. Together with his advisees, she has also sought to construct partial connections with other ethnographic fields, as interlocutors from different Indigenous peoples, traditional communities, LGBTQIA+ and feminist people and collectives. The converging focus is the body as a space constituted by alterities, materialities, knowledge practices and politic. Still, how such collectives insert difference in premises and institutional dynamics implied in public policies, projects and events, multiplying reflexive and agentive possibilities.
