Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Química (IQ)  (Institutional affiliation for the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a bachelor's degree (1984) and a PhD (1990) in Chemistry from the State University of Campinas. Since 1990, I have been a professor at the Instituto de Química da Universidade de São Paulo. From 1993 to 1995 I was a postdoc fellow at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, USA. Between 2012 and 2013 I was a three-month postdoc fellow at the Molecular Foundry of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA, USA. I am currently associate professor at the Instituto de Química da Universidade de São Paulo, where I have taught couses in Analytical Chemistry at undergraduate and graduated level. I supervise scientific initiation, MSc and PhD students, besides supervising post-doctoral fellows. The main topics of research have been environmental analytical chemistry, flow analysis, electroanalytical and separation methods. In 2013 I started a line of research on the preparation and use of porous monolithic materials for chromatographic separations and sample preparation. I have authored more than 110 scientific articles and two book chapters. I´m member of the Brazilian Chemical Society and member of the editorial board of Heliyon (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
