Received a bachelor's degree in Forest Engineering from University of São Paulo (2003). From 2002 to 2003, Brando studied ecology and geography at McGill University. Paulo has worked with the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM) since 2003.In 2006, Brando received his doctorate degree in Interdisciplinary Ecology at University of Florida. Currently, he is a Scientist with IPAM and Woodwell Climate Research Center.
