Birthplace: Brazil

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, a Master's degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the same institution, and a Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the Federal University of Pernambuco - UFPE, with a sandwich period at Texas AM University (USA). I have completed postdoctoral research at the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew/Queen Mary University of London, and the Department of Plant Biology at the State University of Campinas/UNICAMP. I am a professor at the São Paulo State University, where I work in the field of Botany. I am accredited in the Graduate Program in Evolution and Diversity at UFABC. Currently, I am coordinating a research grant from FAPESP (Process: 22/05890-3; 03/2023 to 02/2025) and I am part of the research team of the CEPID-FAPESP project "Biodiversity Dynamics and Climate Change - BioGATe" (Process: 21/10639-5). Through an integrated approach involving cytogenetics, cytogenomics, plant systematics, and comparative phylogenetic methods, the projects of my research group aim to understand the role of hybridization, polyploidy, and genome size variations in the evolution and diversification of neotropical plants, with a focus on Orchidaceae.
