Maria Christina W. Avellar received her B.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences (1985) and M.Sc. in Pharmacology (1988) from Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP-EPM), and her Ph.D. in Sciences (1992) from State University of São Paulo (USP), São Paulo, Brazil. After doing a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Laboratories for Reproductive Biology, UNC-Chapel Hill (NC, USA), she returned to UNIFESP-EPM where she has remained and is currently a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Section of Experimental Endocrinology. Dr. Avellar s research interests focus on reproductive biology, male reproductive tract, cell and molecular biology of epididymal function, androgen and glucocorticoid action, innate immunity and inflammation, experimental models for the studies of androgen and glucocorticoid action on epididymal biology.
