Graduation in Biological Sciences by the Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo (1979), master in Physiology by the Universidade de São Paulo (1982) and Ph.D. by the Universidade de São Paulo (1984). Dr. Machado is Professor of Physiology and his line of investigation is currently oriented to the understanding of the synaptic transmission in the neural pathways of the central control of autonomic and respiratory functions and particularly in the coupling mechanisms of these important neuorvegetative functions at the brainstem level (http://machadolaboratory.wixsite.com/labweb).
