Carlos Henrique Cardonha is a Research Staff Member in the Systems of Engagement and Insight Group at IBM Research - Brazil. Currently, he is working on the development and application of mathematical modeling techniques, optimisation and computational learning on issues related to Smarter Cities, education, and others. He holds the degrees of B.Sc. and M.Sc. Computer Science from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, University of São Paulo and a Ph.D in Mathematics from the Faculty of Mathematics at the Technische Universität Berlin. He worked as a Guest Research Assistant in the Konrad- Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin, where he developed methods of Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Programming and Combinatorial Optimization applied to problems in transport logistics.
