Bachelor in Dentistry from the Universidade Estadual Paulista - UNESP, Master in Science (Human Physiology) from the Universidade de São Paulo and PhD in Science (Cell and Tissue Biology) from the Universidade de São Paulo. Post-Doc from the University of Tennessee, USA (1994-1997) and from the National Institute of Craniofacial Research - NICDR-NIH, USA (2007-2008). Since 2010 has been a Full Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at the University of São Paulo. Coordinator of the Graduation Course in Cell and Tissue Biology at USP (currently Life Systems Biology) between 2010 and 2015 and currently participates in the Program's Coordinating Committee. Co-founder (2008) and President of the Research Support Facility Center - CEFAP/USP (2017 to 2020) and Coordinator of the Multiphotonic Confocal Microscopy Laboratory at CEFAP/USP between 2008 and 2020. Treasurer of the Brazilian Society of Biology Celular (SBBC) since 2010 and has actively participated in the organization of scientific events by SBBC. Currently Head of Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Institute of biomedical Sciences at USP. Associate Editor of the Brazilian Dental Science Journal. Has experience in Morphology, focusing on Cytology and Cell Biology, acting on the following topics: cell migration, cytoskeleton, cell signaling, extracellular matrix, hyperglycemia, microRNAs and wound healing.
