She graduated in Chemistry from the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1981), master's at Chemistry from Universidade de São Paulo (1985) and doctorate at Chemistry from Universidade de São Paulo (1990). Postdoctoral held at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Washington State University, USA (08/1992-12/1993). Is currently full professor and advisor of the Pro-Rectory for Research of the Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho. Has experience in chemistry with emphasis on Natural Products Chemistry, working mainly on Biosynthesis of Natural Products and Bioactive Natural Products of secondary metabolites present in species of the families Piperaceae and Celastraceae. Curretly is a member of the Evaluation Committee of the Graduate Program of Chemistry at CAPES. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
