He obtained his degree in Medicine from the University of São Paulo (FMRP-USP, 1981) and made a medical residency (Medical and Cardiology Clinic, 1981-185) at the HC of the FMRP itself. He was an auxiliary teacher of teaching in cardiovascular physiology and cardiology with the FCM of Santos (1985-1994). He has a master's degree in Medicine (Cardiology) from the Federal University of São Paulo and a doctorate in Medical Clinic from the State University of Campinas. From 06/1995 to 09/1997, he was a Sharp Dohme Foundation fellow and did his clinical and cardiovascular pharmacology postdoctoral under Prof. Terrence Blaschke's supervision. Upon returning to the country (10/1997), he became a Doctor Professor at FCM-UNICAMP (Pharmacology) and Free Tee's (2004). Since 2010, he's been a full professor at the Medical Clinic Department, where he does cardiology care and health science research and teaches cardiovascular and geriatric undergraduates and cardiovascular pharmacology postgraduates. From 07/2006 to 08/2007, he served as a teacher-council (Prof. Antonio Coca/Fapesp) at the University of Barcelona Hospital de Clínicas (España). He has coordinated the Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Resistant Hypertension Ambulatory of HC-Unicamp since 1997. He has been a CNPq researcher (1a) since 1997 and is currently a member of this body's Advisor of Medicine Committee (2018-ATU).Member of the Journal Editorial Corps of Human Hypertension (Springer-Nature Ed). He is a member of the American Heart Association (AHA), American Society of Hypertension (ASH), European Society of Hypertension (ESH), European Society of Cardiology (ESC), International Society of Hypertension (ISH), Sociedad Española de Cardiology (SEC) and American College of Physicians (ACP), besides the Brazilian Societies of Hypertension (SBH), Brazilian Cardiology (DHA-SBC), Cardiology of the State of São Paulo (SOCESP). Expertise in Internal Medicine, focusing on cardiovascular disease, including cardiovascular pharmacology, hypertension, and refractory/resistant hypertension. From 2011 to 2016, he coordinated "Primary Principles of Clinical Research" (PPCR Course of Harvard University) at Unicamp. Won the Unicamp "Zeferino Vaz" award in 2012. From 09/2015 to 09/2016, he remained as a teacher-invited (Prof. Felipe Fregni) at Spaulding Hospital, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School in Boston (Ma-USA). In 2017, it resumed its teaching, research and assistance activities with its institution (Unicamp). During this period, he worked at the CNPq Medicine Advisor Committee (2020-2022), the Board of Directors of the SOCESP (2910-2921) and as a member of the FCM-Unicamp Teacher Commission (CCD) (2020-ATU). It has almost 300 complete international scientific articles published, 20 national and 14 book chapters. He is an opinion of 18 international journals and federal research promotion agencies such as FAPESP and CNPq.
