PHD in Biochemistry at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) (1974), full professor since 2002 at the Department of Biochemistry, USP. Her main field of work is the interaction- Trypanosoma cruzi- mammalian host, identifying ligants and receptors in the invasion process. Elements of the extracellular matrix (laminin) and Tc85 group ( family gp85/trans-sialidase from T. cruzi) are being studied and the protein sequences involved identifyed by phage display and synthetic peptides. The relevance of vesicles from T. cruzi in the infectivity and post-transductional modifications of proteins from the infective stage of the parasite during the adhesion step and the signaling pathways involved are other focus of research (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
