I obtained a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo (1985), followed by an M.Sc. (1992) and Ph.D. (1996) in Soil Science and Plant Nutrition / Soil Chemistry at the same institution. I completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Florida (20052006) and achieved the position of Full Professor in 2016. I am a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level A).I currently serves as Full Professor in the Department of Soil Science at ESALQ/USP, Coordinator of the SolloAgro Program for Continuing Education in Sustainable Agriculture, and Coordinator of the Multi-User Laboratory for Environmental Analysis. Throughout my academic career, I have held several leadership positions, including Head of the Department of Soil Science at ESALQ, President of the Teaching Activities Committee, the Agreements Committee, and the Culture and University Extension Committee at ESALQ, as well as Coordinator of the Extension Courses Chamber at USP, member of the Deliberative Council of the Institute for Advanced Studies at USP and Scientific Director of the Agrisus Foundation (Sustainable Agriculture). I served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Scientia Agricola, Vice-President of the Brazilian Association of Scientific Editors (ABEC), and Coordinator of the Jury for the Prêmio Jabuti Acadêmico in the fields of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for two years.Prior to my current appointment, I worked as a researcher at the Sugarcane Technology Center for three years, as a professor at the Luiz Meneghel Agronomy Faculty Foundation (currently UENP) in Bandeirantes, Paraná, for 1.5 years, at the University of Marília for 2.5 years, and as a scientific researcher at the Agronomic Institute of Campinas for three years.My research expertise lies in Soil Chemistry and Fertility, with emphasis on soil chemical transformations as influenced by management practices and on the environmental behavior of potentially toxic elements.
