Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is also Head of the Interdisciplinary Medicine in Cardiology Unit at the Heart Institute of the University of Sao Paulo. The Unit is involved in the medical care, teaching and research related to cardiac involvement in non-cardiac diseases, mainly atherosclerosis in special situations. He has published 190 articles in National and International peer reviewed medical journals. Dr. Caramelli was the principal investigator and coordinator of the Study ?Cardiovascular Risk Profile in Children and Adolescents with HIV/AIDS PERI Study? granted by UNESCO. Dr. Caramelli was the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Brazilian Medical Associaton until 2013 and member od the editorial board of Plos One. He is also referee ad-hoc of the National Council for Scientific and Technologial Development, FAPESP (The State of São Paulo Research Foundation), FACEPE (The State of Pernambuco Research Foundation), FAPESB The State of Bahia Research Foundation), FAPERGS (The State of Rio Grande do Sul Research Foundation ), and the Research Program for the Public Health System.
