Graduated in Physical Education from Universidade Estadual Paulista (1994), Master in Motricity Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista (1999) and PhD in Education from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2007). Post-doctorate in Psychology (Universidade São Francisco; concept 7/CAPES; 2020). Leader of the Center for Studies in Social Cognitive Theory and Educational Practices, he has investigated the construct of self-efficacy in the development of a teaching career and in the context of a healthy school.
