Birthplace: Brazil

Pharmacy degree from Universidade de São Paulo (1990) and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1997). Pos-doctoral fellow at USP (1996-1997) and Harvard Medical School (2006-2007). Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Natural Products at Pharmacy School at Ribeirao Preto, Universidade de Sao Paulo (FCFRP-USP), since 1998. In 2009 was promoted to Associate Professor position and in 2019 to Full Professor. She served as Associate editor of Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society and Scientific Reports. Currently she is editor of mSystems and Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy. She is currently the coordinator of the first ICBG in Brazil, together with Jon Clardy. This initiative is supported by the FIC-NIH and FAPESP. She is president of Graduate Committee (CPG) at FCFRP-USP. She has experience in the Chemistry of Natural Products, with emphasis in the following subjects: symbiont microorganisms, natural products, chemical ecology of interspecies interactions.
