CV Lattes ResearcherID ORCID

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas (ICB)  (Institutional affiliation for the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Itália

Since 2013 she is a professor at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) of the University of São Paulo (USP), where she currently holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Immunology. Graduated in Biological Sciences (1999), PhD in Experimental and Clinical Pathology (2003) and Residency in Medical Genetics (2008) obtained from Universita Degli Studi Di Trieste (Italy). She did a post-doctorate at the Children's Institute "Burlo Garofolo" in Trieste ((Italy) from 2003 to 2011. Between 2011 and 2013 she was a visiting researcher in Brazil (at the LIM-56 at FMUSP and at the Genetics Department at UFPE). In 2021 she obtained the title of "Livre Docencia" by ICB / USP in the area of Immunogenetics. She has expertise in innate immunity and inflammation, inflammasome, autoinflammatory diseases, immunogenetics, medical and population genetics. She develops research projects related to human genetics of innate immunity and inflammation with particular interest in the multiprotein complex of the inflammasome. The analysis of the genes of interest both in autoinflammatory monogenic diseases and in multifactorial diseases with an established inflammatory component (autoinflammatory, autoimmune, infectious, neurodegenerative diseases, neoplasms) aims to contribute to the knowledge of the immunopathological mechanisms of these diseases and to identify alternative or new diagnostic markers targets of therapeutic intervention.
