CV Lattes ResearcherID ORCID

Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas de Ribeirão Preto (FCFRP)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Argentina

Holds a degree in 'Bachiller Universitario con mención en Química' (2005) and a bachelor's degree in 'Licenciatura en Biotecnología' (2009) from the Facultad de Ciencias Bioquímicas y Farmacéuticas, Universidad Nacional de Rosario (FBioyF-UNR), Argentina. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences (Doctor en Ciencias Biológicas) at the same institution in 2014, conducting research on the bacteria-host interface, with a focus on protein complexes and their functional mechanisms in phytopathogenic processes.Between 2014 and 2019, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Instituto de Química, Universidade de São Paulo (IQ-USP), under the supervision of Prof. Shaker Chuck Farah. During this time, he deepened his studies in molecular biology, structural biology, and microbial genetics, focusing on protein complexes involved in biologically relevant microbiological processes. He also collaborated on multidisciplinary projects with research groups in Brazil and abroad. He has teaching experience since 2008, when he began teaching the course 'Una propuesta para leer, escribir, y aprender mejor en el ingreso a la Universidad' (20082010). He served as an assistant in the Departamento de Química Orgánica at the Facultad de Ciencias Bioquímicas y Farmacéuticas (20102012) and in the disciplines of Cell Biology and Bromatology Laboratory (20122013) of the 'Técnico Universitario en Química' program at Instituto Politécnico Superior "General San Martín," affiliated with the Universidad Nacional de Rosario. These experiences solidified his pedagogical background and enhanced his ability to integrate teaching and research. He conducted a research internship (20162017) at the Department of Biological Sciences, Birkbeck College (BBK), University of London, United Kingdom, where he held the position of Associate Research Fellow. There, he collaborated with leading teams in structural biology, employing advanced techniques such as cryo-electron microscopy to investigate fundamental molecular mechanisms.Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the Faculdade de Ciências Farmacêuticas de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo (FCFRP-USP), where he leads innovative projects focused on the structural and functional characterization of molecular systems in microorganisms and viruses. His research areas include structural virology, studies on protein-protein interactions, and bacteriophage infection mechanisms. He coordinates the Laboratory of Structural Studies of Macromolecules (LEEM) and plays an active role in training new researchers, supervising undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. With solid experience in molecular biology, structural biology, biochemistry, and microbial genetics, he develops studies with potential applications in medical, pharmaceutical, and agricultural fields. He maintains collaborations with national and international research institutions and is recognized for the quality and impact of his scientific contributions.Contact: ggsgro(at)usp.br (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
