Full Professor and Associate Dean at the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities, University of Sao Paulo USP (EACH/USP) Brazil. Leader of the Interdisciplinary Group of Leisure Studies (GIEL/USP) holds a master’s degree in Leisure Studies by the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP. PhD in Tourism and Leisure by USP, post doctorate in Leisure Studies from Griffith University - Australia and associate professor in the area of Culture, Art and Leisure by the University of Sao Paulo. Recipient of the University of Sao Paulo Outstanding Teaching Award he is an author of several articles and books about leisure and its relation with tourism, health and physical activities. Has attended academic and professional meetings in more than 50 countries. Member of editorial boards of Tourism and Physical Education journals he is committed to projects that focus the development of leisure in Brazil and South America, in special within Sao Paulo region. Former president and founder of the Brazilian Association for Leisure Studies - ANPEL he was vice-chairman and board of directors member of the World Leisure Organization (WLO) from 2006 to 2016.
