Dr Palmero holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Santa Maria, a Master's and PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. She completed herr first postdoctoral fellowship at the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science in Galway, Ireland. Her second postdoctoral fellowship was carried out at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Lyon, France. She is a CNPq productivity researcher and a member (management committee) of the Brazilian Hereditary Cancer Network - REBRACH and LA-GETH. She is a professor-researcher at the National Cancer Institute (INCA), where she is a Permanent Faculty of the Graduate Program in Oncology and a Deputy Coordinator of the aforementioned Graduate Program. She is a collaborating faculty member at the Center for Research in Molecular Oncology/Graduate Program in Oncology of the Barretos Cancer Hospital. She was awarded with the Saúde Abril Health Award in the Men's and Women's Health category for her work in identifying women at risk for hereditary cancer in the general population.She has expertise in the field of Genetics and Cancer, with an emphasis on Hereditary Cancer.
