Graduate at Medicina from Universidade Estadual de Londrina (1980), master's at Neurology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1990) and Ph.D. at Neurology from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1992). Currently has the position of Professor of Neurology at Universidade Federal de São Paulo. Chair of the Panamerican Section of the International Society of Parkinson's disease and Movement Disorders (from 2017 to 2019). Chair of the Educational Committee of the Brazilian Academy of Neurology.
