Graduated in Agricultural Engineering - Universidad Central de Las Villas, Cuba (1995), MSc. in Plant Biotechnology - Universidad Central de Las Villas, Cuba (1998) and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the Federal University of Viçosa, Brazil (2003). Postdoctoral Fellow in Plant Biotechnology at the Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (IAS-CSIC) in Spain (2004-2006). Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Plant Pathology at Plant Research International, the Netherlands (2008-2009). Researcher of Brazilian Corporation of Agricultural Research ? Embrapa (2006 -). Researcher and Regional Coordinator for Latin America and Caribbean of the Commodity Systems and Genetic Resources Programme of Bioversity International (2010 -2013). Twenty year of experience in Tropical Agriculture with emphasis in Plant Pathology, working in different countries, such as Cuba, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Spain, The Netherlands, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panamá, Honduras, Colombia and Peru. Areas of interest are: Plant and soil health, Plant-microbe interactions; Breeding for disease resistance and Use of Agrobiodiversity for designing and management sustainable production systems.
