Biologist by the Federal University of Ceará (UFC), master's degree in Marine Sciences from the Institute of Marine Sciences - LABOMAR/UFC and PhD in Oceanography at Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). Currently is Adjunct Professor at the Institute of Marine Sciences of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (IMar-Unifesp). Has scientific focus in assessments of environmental impacts related to marine and coastal contamination investigating socio-environmental issues related to solid waste, including microplastics impacts. At the present, participate in dialogues with the Brazilian parliament (Chamber of Deputies and Senate), Ministry of the Environment, City Halls of municipalities and organized civil society subsidizing discussions for the global plastic treaty. From an academic perspective, has published articles on the occurrence, distribution and biological effects of microplastics and guiding early and mid-career researchers, on topics related to contamination, pollution and environmental chemistry.
