Nelly de Freitas Moreli Rocha

I have a degree in History and Geography from the Sorbonne-Université, a master's degree in History by the Sorbonne-Université, a specialization in Political and Social Sciences by International Center for Studies on Contemporary Society, which brings together the University of São Paulo, the Fundación José Ortega y Gasset, the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of Madeira (2006), and a doctorate in History from the Center Roland Mousnier Sorbonne-Université (2013). In 2014 and 2015, I did a post-doctorate in History at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) under the supervision of Professor Maria Izilda Santos de Matos. Entitled "The specificity of Portuguese island immigration in São Paulo in the correspondence of the islanders of the Madeira archipelago (1890-1950)", the project was supported by a post-doctoral scholarship (PNPD-PROSUP) from CAPES. In 2016 and 2018, I did a second post-doctorate in History at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) under the supervision of Professor Maria Izilda Santos de Matos. Entitled "History of my life": History, memory and culture of the Madeiran community in São Paulo, 1950-1960, the project was supported by a Postdoctoral fellowship from FAPESP. I work in the area of History of human migration, especially between Portugal and Brazil, historical demography and human geography with an interest in oral and cultural history. After more than ten years of research in the university environment and in full professional reconversion, I started a degree in pedagogy. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
