Environmental Engineer (2011), Master (2014) and Doctor (2020) in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE/Brazil). He has experience with several applications in the area of Biogeosciences, with a focus on tropical ecology, nature conservation and environmental monitoring in the Amazon rainforest. He specializes in conducting quantitative research using advanced data types such as high-resolution satellite optical and airborne LIDAR data, as well as methods such as deep learning convolutional neural networks. He currently works as a postdoc researcher at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), investigating forest degradation mapping in tropical forests with deep learning.
