Specialized in the areas of Photonics and Electronics Engineering, for Aerospace and Biomedical engineering applications, with emphasis on: Silicon Photonics, Integrated Optics, Fiber Optic Sensors, Micro/nanodevices and Micro/nanosensors, Microwave (RF) and Optoelectronics. Graduated from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) in Electronic Engineering with Magna Cum Laude distinction (1997), and graduation from the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Aeronautical Sciences with specialization in Military Aviation (1987), master's degree from ITA Engineering electronics and Computer Science (1998) and doctorate from Cornell University in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2004). Experience in the design, fabrication and characterization of devices into Silicon Integrated Photonics, and of Optical Fiber Sensors, especially for Aerospace Applications. Accredited at ITA Graduate School, and at Photonics Division of the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEAv), both from DCTA-COMAER. Member of the Assessment Committee in Graduate CAPES Program - Engineering III (Trienal 2010-2012; Quadrienal 2013-2016). Member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Society of Optics and Photonics (SBFoton). Coordinator of the Area Committee "Physics inside Companies" (FEM), from Brazilian Physics Society (SBF). FAPESP ad hoc advisor to PIPE Project PIPE and general grants. International recognition for relevant scientific contributions, with three articles listed among the Top-100 Most Cited Articles in 40 years of Optics Letters (, ranking # 16, 60 and 80; the researcher was the brazilian most cited and with the largest number of ranked articles in that top-list.
