I am a faculty member at Centro Universitário Padre Anchieta and the Latin America Regional Secretary of the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE). I hold a Ph.D. from the Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine and Animal Health (VPS) at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (FMVZ), University of São Paulo (USP), where I also completed my Masters degree. During my Ph.D., I conducted a research internship (BEPE-FAPESP) at the School of Medicine, University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), under the supervision of Dr. Tracy Bale. I earned my D.V.M. degree from the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), where I was a PET (Tutorial Education Program) scholarship student in Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, I hold a technical degree in Agriculture from Escola de Canuanã, Bradesco Foundation (Tocantins, Brazil). I have worked as an animal welfare consultant for Geave Tecnologia, focusing on improving welfare practices during pre-slaughter and slaughter of pigs and poultry. My main areas of expertise include animal welfare, epigenetics, and swine production, with research interests in: epigenetics and animal welfare; welfare of breeding males; effects of prenatal stressors on sows and offspring; technologies to enhance welfare; and welfare at slaughter.
